A local activist and an ambitious young mayor clash over the best way forward in their impoverished suburb. The original French title of the project was to be « Les Indésirables ». before it was changed.. In this second film from the director of LES MISERABLES, made in 2019, we still have Alexis Manenti and Steve Chienchew, but not in the same roles. Manenti goes from policeman to mayor, and Chienchew goes from local kingpin to great member of the city council… This is not a social crime drama, it’s just a social drama, just remove the criminal element. It’s just an indictment of the real facts, a real tragedy. Not everyone will agree with the message in this film. At the heart of this story is the government’s strategy for migrants. If you want to escape your problems, if you want to dream, to hope for the future, this film is not for you. But if you are brave enough to open your eyes to the real and ugly face of the modern world, modern society, this movie is the best option for you. Very painful ending, painful, disturbing. Unforgettable.
